This Week at Brookwood

Fall is in full swing as we transition from October into November. Here are some highlights from the past week.

Today, the 7th grade Art Studio group traveled into Boston to visit the Museum of Fine Arts. Students spent time carefully viewing and discussing two special exhibits featuring the color field paintings of Mark Rothko and the imaginative 2D and 3D creations of Takashi Murakami. These dedicated young artists also viewed several of the museum's contemporary pieces. From the insights they glean from this trip, Art Studio group will then be able to act as docents as the entire 7th grade returns to the MFA for a full class field trip next week.

On Thursday, internationally recognized guitarist and flamenco phenom Juanito Pascal (pictured below) joined us at School Meeting and participated in music classes throughout the day. Thank you to the Parents’ Association for making this possible!

In Science class, 5th graders checked in on our beehives to see how they're getting ready for winter.

2nd graders (pictured below) visited Appleton Farms in Ipswich and learned about the history of the farm - which dates back to the 1630s - and what life was like 200 years ago. There were a lot more chores back then! Students loved meeting their farm animals, such as sheep, goats, cows, and chickens.
