On Thursday, February 1, the Brookwood community participated in World Read Aloud Day, a global reading experience where people all around the world read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy. Brookwood students and employees donned pajamas and were excited to engage in this global celebration of reading. Chef Al read aloud to the PreK class, students read with their buddies, and teachers, administrators, family members and Upper School students visited younger classrooms across the school sharing favorite stories. Author Barney Saltzberg Skyped with Lower School students from his studio in Los Angeles and the community penned their favorite book titles, filling a large “Books We Love” mural near Liston Commons. As the day progressed, a wonderful sense of camaraderie developed across the divisions around the single focus of community and the value of reading. Thanks to everyone who participated!
